This fall, Continental will join Star Alliance and also begin to cooperate closely with United Airlines, linking our networks and services worldwide to deliver new benefits to our customers. Continental will end its participation in SkyTeam after our last scheduled flight on Oct. 24, 2009.

We expect to begin participating in Star Alliance on Oct. 27, 2009.

Continue Earning Miles with OnePass
Continental's OnePass members do not need to make any changes to their OnePass accounts and will continue to utilize their mileage as normal. Mileage balances will not be affected by the transition.

Travel through Oct. 24, 2009
OnePass members can continue to earn and redeem miles and make reward reservations on SkyTeam partners through Oct. 24, 2009. All reward travel on these partners must be completed on or before Oct. 24, 2010.

Travel on Oct. 25 and Oct. 26, 2009
If you travel on a Star Alliance airline on Oct. 25 or Oct. 26, we will make every effort to ensure you automatically receive OnePass mileage credit (including Elite Qualification Miles/Points) and eligible customers receive lounge access. Please save copies of your travel documents for Oct. 25 and Oct. 26 — eTicket receipts and original boarding passes — until mileage credit is confirmed on your OnePass statement.

Travel Oct. 27, 2009 and beyond
When the transition to Star Alliance occurs on Oct. 27, 2009, OnePass members will begin earning base miles and Elite Qualification Miles/Points and be able to redeem miles on Star Alliance airlines.

In dem Mail, das heute morgen kam steht lediglich noch:

Bin auch gespannt, wie M&M mit den CO-Buchungsklassen umgehen wird. Habe im Januar einen Flug FRA-EWR-SJO-EWR-CDG-DUS in N. OnePass gibt darauf 100%: 12K für 492 € ai.

M&M wird mit Sicherheit das eigene Schema weiter verfolgen, d.h. billige CO-Tarife werden bei M&M weniger geben als bei Onepass. Dieses "Symptom" kennen wir ja auch schon im Vergleich zwischen UA Mileage Plus und M&M.

Für Premium-Tarife wird M&M hingegen wahrscheinlich lohnender bleiben.

Davon gehe ich auch aus. Wobei mich mal interessieren würde, ob die Partnerairlines zuviel an M&M zahlen müssten, um auch in billigen Buchungsklassen 100% gutzuschreiben, oder ob M&M von vornherein bei Ramschtickets allenfalls 50% zulässt.

M&M (genauso wie AF FB) hat keinerlei Interesse, Fremdairlines mit Billigtickets einen 100% Mileage Credit zuzugestehen - damit würde man die Tarifstruktur und die eigenen Policies der vollintegrierten Partner ja unterlaufen.
