Question on Miles and More Status Miles

[FONT=&quot]Hello all, I am a newbie and I promise I tried to research this but I still need help as I'm not clear how it all works. Apologies is this is not the place to ask.[/FONT]
[FONT=&quot]I have 34,300-ish Miles and More status points with Lufthansa and I see that I need just 600-ish status miles by year-end to reach the 35,000 frequent flyer status. That seems like a really small number! I fly Lufthansa a few times a year for work and I think the status would be worth it.[/FONT]
[FONT=&quot]I am based in Boston so I thought I could take a short flight somewhere over my holiday break. If I understand correctly I can earn status miles through United. I just tried looking up a few flights and my main question is -- do MileagePlus points on United transfer directly to Miles and More, 1 to 1? I'd hate to book a flight only for them not to count.[/FONT]

Nein, Meilen werden nicht 1:1 von Mileage Plus zu Miles & More transferiert. Wenn Du wie bisher beim Fliegen Deine M&M-Nummer in der Buchung einträgst, dann werden Dir direkt M&M-Meilen gutgeschrieben.

Wieviele Meilen Du auf UA-Flügen bei M&M sammelst, findest Du hier: Link nach einem Klick auf "Status miles / Booking class system".

Easy 600 status miles from BOS: z.B. 1 kurzes Leg in Buchungsklasse E, H, M, U mit UA hin plus 1 kurzes Leg in Buchungsklasse Q, S, V, W, G, K, L, N, T mit UA zurück = 750 Meilen. Oder mit 1x Umsteigen 3 Legs in Q, S, V, W, G, K, L, N, T.

Or, to put it more easily: Your question goes in the wrong direction. You can’t transfer points/miles from one program to another. Instead, you‘ll need to earn Lufthansa miles by flying United. How will you accomplish this? Simply have the miles for said flight credited to Miles&More by presenting your M&M card at check-in. How many miles will you earn for a given flight? Just look that up on the M&M website before you book (link above) and make sure you get one of the booking classes needed.

@MarcusPatterson I would recommend entering the M&M number already when booking the United flight, i.e. don't login to your United MileagePlus account when you book, just book without logging in and select "Miles and More" when entering the Frequent Flyer Programme and enter the M&M number. This will avoid any accidental crediting to MileagePlus.

Da es um M&M geht (das zu LH gehört), hat er wohl angenommen, dass hier die Profis sind, die vll. auch Englisch können - stimmt ja auch.

Und jetzt dürfen wir raten, ob wir nochmal was von ihm hören. Schade eigentlich, denn Begrüßung/Hilfsbereitschaft waren für eine solche Neulingsfrage außerordentlich zuvorkommend. Kein Gemotze („lies erstmal die FAQ, wenn du hier was willst“), keine Trollbeiträge... vielleicht sollte man Newbies raten, ihre ersten Beiträge auf Englisch zu verfassen.
