Shanghai: With the Shanghai-Beijing bullet train set to begin service in about two weeks`time, China is ready to impress the world not only with its speed, but also with its service.
In a bid to ensure that everypassenger has the bestfour hours of his life, the bullet train authorities have held a national draft to pick stewardesses to serve on the high-speed train, and conducted stringent training with them, CNN reported over the weekend.
Rules for these bullet train attendants include:
o Smile with only eight front teeth showing, a feat achieved by daily chopstick-biting training.
oSmile through the eyes.
Training in this skill involves covering all facial features save the eyes and smilling to each other
o Be able to perform in talent shows
o Provide "5S" services-smile, speed, standards, sincerity and satisfy - passengers.
A Team of newly minted Shanghai-Beijing bullet train stewardesses made their publich debut at Hongqiao Railway Station in Shanghai last Wednesday. Nicknamed the "high-speed sisters" by chinese netizens, the woman are between 19 and 22 years old, and stand above the requisite height of 165 cm.
Some 400 stewardesses will serve the Shanghai section of this high-speed railway, of whom 270 were selected from 3.000 candidates from all over China - many of them former flight attendants. The rest were chosen from staff on other high-speed train services.
The Beijing-Shanghai high-speed train will have a top speed of 300 kmh - reduced from 350 kmh because of safety concerns. The 1,318 km rail trip is expected to take four hours and 48 minutes, instead of the current 10 hours.
Most ticket on the Beijing-Shanghai high-speed rail will cost between 555 yuan and 935 yuan, with premium tickets going for 1,750 yuan. By comparison, air tickets cost 640 yuan to 1,500 yuan.

Könnte eine alternative zum Inlandsflug auf dieser Strecke werden, rechnet man mal all die Zeiten für Anreise Flughafen, Security etc. runter, spart man Zeit und Nerven.
