Mit Ryanair und anderen europäischen Low-Cost-Carriern ist Southwest nicht zu vergleichen. Allein die Freundlichkeit des Personals ließ mich erstaunen, hatte meine Erwartungen natürlich auch niedriger angesetzt, als man es bei den Netzwerkcarriern ansetzen würde. Trotzdem, ein paar Mal mit Southwest geflogen und immer hat das Produkt überzeugt und das Preis-/Leistungsverhältnis sowieso.
Wer etwas Zeit über hat und maximieren möchte:
Habe bisher auf jedem Flug erlebt, dass der Flug überbucht war. Gab in den Fällen fürs freiwillige Umbuchen auf einen späteren Flug immer 300 $ und bei Strecken, die häufig geflogen werden, ist das bei 1-2 Stunden zusätzlicher Wartezeit ein netter Stundenlohn. Gibt hierfür allerdings immer genügend Freiwillige, es scheint fast schon so, als würden Leute bewusst darauf spekulieren...

Volunteers
If you volunteer to give up your seat in an oversale situation and we can rebook you on a
Southwest Airlines flight that will arrive within two hours of your originally scheduled
arrival time, we will give you a travel voucher in the amount of $100 plus an amount
equal to the face value of your one-way flight coupon(s).
If we cannot confirm your travel with
in two hours of your originally scheduled arrival time,
you will be placed on a “priority standby” list and your compensation will increase to a
travel voucher in the amount of $300 plus an amount equal to the face value of your
one-way flight coupon(s).
If you are not accommodated as a standby Customer, we will
confirm you on a later Southwest Airlines flight(s) that day with seats available to your
destination. You will not incur an increase in fare.
