Ich hatte es die Tage schon bei FT gepostet, will Euch jedoch den "Spass" auch nicht verwehren: FlyerTalk Forums - View Single Post - 'Catching A Taxi At Bangkok Airport' Discussion Thread
If you thought that it can't get worse with taxi drivers in Bangkok, I can garanty you it can ...
Last week Mrs. olisch and I stayed at Novotel Suvarnabhumi Airport. In the afternoon we wanted to to take a taxi to get to Central Bangna to meet a friend of my wife. The concierge at Novotel called for a taxi for us and after 2 or 3 minutes a taxi arrived. Not a regular one but one with a slighty bigger trunk.
We got in and started and the driver didn't turn on the taximeter, so my wife asked him to turn it on. He complained about that but finally turned it on.
Then things got "messy" while driving on the motorway my wife talked about in german bad situation with taxi drivers from the airport in general and our driver in special. I'm convinced that the driver couldn't understand a single word, but he obviously realised that we were not happy. So he also started complaining back in thai and in english, that his taxi is special and rather a limousine and he should get a much higer rate for the tour. We just told him that we don't need a limousine but just a taxi and if we need a limouisne we'd book a right one.
Not the answer the taxi driver was happy about. So he stopped his taxi right on the sideline of the motorway somehwere in nowhereland still far away from the first exit next to 2 other cars, one of them a taxi, that for some kind of reasons parked there. He got off and talked with the other taxi driver on the sideline, came back and told us that we should get off and take the other taxi! we were thrown out of the taxi.
I never experienced anything similar in all of my stays in Thailand. Unfortunately I didn't think about taking a picture of his taxi license.
So we changed the taxi in the middle of the motorway and with the new driver we finally got to central Bangna with the taximeter turned on.
