Dear DA40,
I regret to say that there is a deliberate “inhibitor†(Vorbeugung) placed on new accounts which prevents mileage purchase for a specified period of time after the account has been opened. I must admit that this did not occur to me when my colleague referred the problem to me at the end of last week. The reason this block is placed has to do with fraud prevention and I cannot lift it or influence it.
I suggest that you need to review the matter in approximately 2 weeks time (the bonus promotion runs till 15th August) to see if the inhibitor has been removed (I am advised it takes at least 14 days, but could take longer).
Furthermore, I would like to know, whether the following routing would be valid:
FRA[LH]-NRT NRT[UA]-PEK[stop-over][LH]-FRA as Europe->North Asia
DME[LH]-FRA[LH]-NRT NRT[LH]-FRA[LH]-DME as North-Asia->North Asia.
As for the routings, I don’t see any problem with flying from Frankfurt to Tokyo and back with an enroute stopover at Beijing, but the second routing seems to be invalid. The reason for this is that if you route via a higher mileage region (ie. Europe) you are liable for the higher mileage. So the second option would be effectively Europe-North Asia also.
Kind regards,
European Dividend Miles.
