Thank you for contacting British Airways.
As per EU Legislation, the airlines operating a particular flight is responsible to pay the compensation if the flight gets delayed or cancelled, once found eligible for the claim of compensation as per the standards of EU Legislation.
We were responsible for the claim of compensation of the delayed flight BA 0179because that flight is operated by British Airways, however, as per the standards of EU Legislation, the case of the delayed flight BA 0179, was not eligible for compensation, hence, we were unable to process it.
Similarly, the delayed flight AA 0141 is operated by American Airlines, not by British Airways, hence, with my sincere apologies, I would have to inform you that we will be unable to take the responsibility of a flight which is not operated by British Airways.
In the situation of disruption, we are liable to book our passengers at the earliest, depending upon the availability in the flights, and in the attempt of rebooking, we have to rebook passengers on any airlines flight, ensuring that our passengers are able to reach their destination at the earliest.
The airport staff would have been able to find seats available on the flight AA 0141, hence, you got rebooked on the American Airlines flight. Now, if an American Airlines flight gets delayed, I would have to sincerely request you to please approach American Airlines as we are unable to intervene in their operations.
Thanks again for getting in touch with us about your flight. If there’s anything else I can help you with, please don’t hesitate to contact me directly using the blue link below.
