After Aegean "upgraded" its ffp since Nov2014, there are some issues regarding A3-Gold status.
1. Either u need 48k miles per year or 24k miles+ 4aegean/olympic segments to achieve A3-Gold status for FIRST TIME, or
2. U need 24k miles per year or 12k miles+ 4aegean/olympic segments to maintain A3-Gold status for 1 year
This is how i do it, easily (I am located in Berlin. I fly to EUropean destinations, including Greece, and sometimes USA/CHINA):
1. Register to SAS.com / When u access booking portals like Kayak.de / Opodo.de etc, u only get access to cheap flights or very expensive ones. Avoid flying with Germanwings -it gives u NO MILES! If u access the SAS page, u also get access to SAS PLUS option. When u fly with SAS Plus, u get 2x Miles. +++ u enjoy the benefits of more luggage, access to lounges if u are not GOLD member, fast track, better food on board, also free wifi on board!!!
2. When u fly to Greece, instead of flying directly to you destination, eg Athens, try to fly first to Iraklion or Thessaloniki. U will SEE that this gives u easier access to A3-Gold status AND IN MOST CASES IS CHEAPER!!!
First of all when u fly via another city, there is no str8 connection, this means u will fly at least 2 aegean segments... thus 4 for a allez-retours trip, this means u qualify immediately the 4 needed segments, so u only need about 12k to collect, but with just one trip from any EU country to Athens via Arlanda or Copehagen in SAS PLUS, u get at least 8k! If u also add the 4 segments, u come very close to another 4k.
So... with about 600Euro /Year u get your A3-Gold status easily! IF U travel SAS PLUS within EU + 4 Aegean segments!!!
3. Sometimes its really good and cheap to fly this way: eg From Berlin to Greece and back like this:
HEADING TO GREECE
A: TXL to ATH with aegean
B: ATH to SKG with aegean
(A+B belong to 1 trip, with transit), then i Collect luggage, re-enter SKG airport and i check in again for a
C: SKG to ATH with aegean.
+ finally:
D: ATH to TXL with aegean.
this.... go around game... costs me less money that a direct flight TXL to ATH and back...!
When u travel abroad eg to China or USA, always choose SAS. in Premium Economy or SAS PLUS, u get the miles x2.... eg... with one trip from Berlin TXL to San Francisco, u get about 14k miles for about 800euro if u book in early enough.
+++Always Remember: WITH A3 u can always PreOrder your Free Meal also a special one for free: Kosher, Diabetic, Fruits, Fish, anything u like!!!
