Dear Sir or Madam,

I am reaching out to let you know about my recent experience at Conrad Centenniel Singapore (Confirmation # XXX):
I have booked the Conrad Centenniel Singapore in expectation to have an outstanding experience for New Years Eve with my wife and mother in law after having had an amazing 7 days stay at the Conrad in Bali.
Unfortunately my stay has been extremely disappointing.

My wife and I have been travelling with my 66 years old mother in law. We let the property know beforehand and carefully requested early check in and late check out plus executive lounge access to make the travel a bit more comfortable for my mother in law. We also explained that we are having a very late airplane departure to Europe on 1st of January after checking out, so lounge access would have really made our departure so much more comfortable.

Upon arrival at 1 PM, the requested early checkin could not be granted. Additionally our luggage was kept outside in the heat for two hours until we could check in.
Executive lounge access was not granted. As a matter of appreciation I would have at least expected an offer to use the Executive Lounge on our day of departure to make it a bit easier for us.

The requested late check out was not going to be granted to us as well. I first had to mention that I am a Hilton Honors gold member and booked an Impresario program rate plus that we are travelling with my elderly mum in law and after that we have received at least a 2 PM late check out.

We came back at 3 PM to receive our room card and to check in. The employee at the counter helped us accordingly but then disappeared for 10 minutes (!!) and let us wait without further explanation.

After getting into the room, the requested extra bed that has been paid for was not there and we had to wait another 30 minutes until it arrived. After travelling we were tired and just wanted to rest but this was not possible due to us having to wait for them to put the bed in the room.
Eventually they brought the small bed to the room but I noticed that the bedding was dirty, therefore it had to be changed and we had to wait another time for the employees to come back.
In the meantime I also noticed that the sofa in the room was not clean. I have pictures to proof that. We did not complain since we were tired and just wanted to rest.

The room itself was missing two important things for me: First of all there was no bin in the room itself, only in the bathroom. Secondly there were no plugs for shavers or electrical toothbrushes in the bathroom. This is not practical and was annoying for me.
Also there was no drinking water available in the lobby itself, we had to ask a waiter to bring us water.

Further more we have noticed that the cleaning personnel didn’t speak English very well. Communicating was hard at times. Service quality in general was not up to standard, employees were not smiling or very friendly and seemed overworked.

Breakfast on level 4 (which also was a temporary solution I think) was far from being on point. I had to ask for water twice before I got it (why not just put up a water fountain so that everyone can take the water themselves?). Also my wife’s coffee was just forgotten about. While I was still eating a pastry, my plate has been taken away which I found rather rude. Selection of food was quite limited as well.

Our experience at the restaurant Oscar’s was also not very good. All tables inside were busy according to the waitress (although we saw empty tables) and we have been seated outside at what looked like a temporary solution for additional guests since our table was right next to a bus stop. Of course it was hard to talk as traffic was quite loud.

Overall I am very very disappointed. My view on Conrad so far has been that it is a luxury 5-star brand. At a price point of roughly 650 SGD per night I was expecting things to work but unfortunately it made the impression that the hotel was overbooked respectively understaffed. In general I didn’t get a very welcoming feel from the employees. This stay leaves a very bad taste in my mouth and it was definitely far from being worth the money we have spent. I have stayed in several other Conrad properties all around the world in 2018 and was always happy with my experiences but this time unfortunately the quality level was far off compared to past stays.
